About Paul Viscontini

Paul's journey to Tower - and fitness - is a bit less conventional. Almost four years ago, staring down the barrel of the big 4-0 and recovering from his second major surgery for Crohn’s disease, Paul knew he should take advantage of his second chance at health and make some lifestyle changes. He started running... and kept on running until he made the jump from hospital bed to ultramarathon in 12 months. In year two of his running addiction, Katie shared her Tower Fitness obsession and he got hooked, too. He was quick to see the benefits of strength training on his silly hobby of running up and down hills (and the occasional mountain). He also realized how special the Tower Fitness community was while he routinely watched his wife whip his ass in the daily WOD.

As the coach of AMPLIFY Athletics, Paul brings a unique blend of competitive athletic experience and youth coaching expertise. A former varsity swimmer and water polo player in high school, he knows what it takes to excel as a student athlete. He continued competing in club water polo through college and later served as a high school swim coach, where he developed his passion for training young athletes. As an ultramarathoner with numerous 50K races under his belt, he lives and breathes the principles he teaches – proper conditioning, injury prevention, and progressive training methods that build durable, resilient athletes.

CrossFit Level 1 certified, Paul combines functional fitness methodology with sport-specific training. His diverse athletic background means he understands how different sports demand different physical preparation, and more importantly, he knows how to connect with young athletes to make training both effective and engaging.

Paul is also a recovering finance professional, having most recently spent five years as the head of asset management for a private equity firm. He was also a management consultant for over 6 years prior to that. But he did some fun stuff on the side, too - like launching and managing a local arts & culture blog in Houston, TX, which boasted 27 contributing writers and photographers in the pre-Instagram era! Paul also currently serves on the Board of Side by Side Charter School here in Norwalk.
